Catch That Trout - North Island is the companion book to Ron's second book and offers a complete guide to fishing in the North Island of New Zealand.
Many anglers are drawn to the South Island by the stories of the great fishing there and so are often unaware of the equally fantastic fishing that can be had in the beautiful lakes and rivers of the North Island . Ron's new book details the best of this fishing and specifies the fishing technique that gets the best out of each of these unique waterways.
Catch That Trout - North Island is the companion book to Ron's second book and offers a complete guide to fishing in the North Island of New Zealand.
The book has the same format as the South Island version as reader feedback has strongly shown this is what anglers want – a ‘how to, where to' book. That book helped thousands of anglers to catch more fish and this new book will do the same for anyone willing to try the latest advances in fishing techniques. Ron spent six months in USA and Canada
studying advances in fishing techniques and the results of his extensive research are now available to anyone wanting to improve their fishing success for just the price of a book. The North Island is very different to South Island waters and demands very different techniques. Nymph fishing is more common and blind nymphing the norm. Techniques that work in the South Island will not work in the North Island where the waters are often not as clear. Plus you have the trout being different with rainbows being the dominant strain. They are not as likely to take a dry fly as the South Island brown so a different approach is required.
If you are not familiar with the techniques needed to fish to these big fish, you will find them just as difficult as those big South Island browns. And the fish are just as big - I have caught just as many trophy trout in the North Island as I have in the South Island. If I counted them up (I have caught more than 30 ten pounders) it would probably be pretty equal. And plenty of them have been brown trout as well - from the Ruakituri River, from the Flaxy Lakes, from the famous Tongariro River. The fishing is fantastic and this book will tell you exactly where to go and how to catch those lunkers.
