A series of articles about some of the famous walks and tramps in New Zealand.
The Hollyford Track
The Hollyford Track follows the path of the Hollyford River and winds its way through beautiful beech and rata forest. The track follows the river to its mouth into Lake McKerrow.
It then winds around the lake finally meeting the rugged West Coast at the outlet of the lake.
The Cascade River
The Cascade River is found at the very end of the road down the West Coast of the South Island. Most people think the road leaves the coast at Haast ... a few know that it goes as far as Port Jackson ...... but the road does not stop there. It goes a touch inland and finally finishes near the Cascade River, the last wild outpost of New Zealand.
The Greenstone/Routeburn Track

Most visitors to New Zealand have heard that the Milford Track is the most scenic track in NZ. But people that have walked both tracks emphatically state that the Grand Traverse over the Greenstone and Routeburn Tracks wins that rating hands down.
The variety of scenery is stunning and the views incomparable - try it for yourself and tell me what you think.
Lake Waikaremoana
This is definitely the most beautiful region of the North Island - secluded, remote, mysterious............
There is a feeling of oneness with nature as you stand below the mighty Mokau Falls and gaze upwards to the torrent above.
Several days need to be spent in this area to fully experience the wonders of the Ureweras.
Nelson Lakes Tracks
There are several tracks in the Nelson Lakes.

The most popular one would be the track up the Travers River Valley. The track starts at St Arnaud on Lake Rotoiti. You can climb over the ridge and descend down the Sabine or D'Urville River valleys to Lake Rotoroa.
